These photos show typical rock sequence of Middle Triassic Semantan Formation, taken from Kg. Mela Lipis, Pahang. This formation is well-known comprises a rapidly alternating sequence of carbonaceous shale, silstone and rhyolite tuff where shale and tuff make up the bulk of the sequence. The common occurence of interbedded tuffaceous shale and silstone indicated that the volvanic activity was comtemporaneous with sedimentation.

"TAXONOMY IS OFTEN UNDERVALUE AS A GLORIFIED FORM OF FILLING WITH EACH SPECIES IN ITS FOLDER, LIKE A STAMP IN ITS PRESCRIBED PLACE IN AN ALBUM; BUT TAXONOMY IS A FUNDAMENTAL AND DYNAMIC SCIENCE, DEDICATED TO EXPLORING THE CAUSES OF RELATIONSHIPS AND SIMILARITIES AMONG ORGANISMS." - S.J. GOULD 1990.
I am a paleontologist. Currently working on Triassic fossils in Malaysia with a heavy emphasis on ammonoids, bivalves and plant fossils -just for hobby. Love to spend more time in the field hunting for fossil. -TRIASSIC WORKER
