All geologist must realize that the future of palaeontology is closely connected to all of futures. Only if we strive to understand the interactions of organisms and environmental change in the past can we hope to predict and therefore in the future. The future of palaeontology is indeed our own future! - Robin Cocks & Steve Culver, 1996.

"TAXONOMY IS OFTEN UNDERVALUE AS A GLORIFIED FORM OF FILLING WITH EACH SPECIES IN ITS FOLDER, LIKE A STAMP IN ITS PRESCRIBED PLACE IN AN ALBUM; BUT TAXONOMY IS A FUNDAMENTAL AND DYNAMIC SCIENCE, DEDICATED TO EXPLORING THE CAUSES OF RELATIONSHIPS AND SIMILARITIES AMONG ORGANISMS." - S.J. GOULD 1990.
